Permits are required for most electrical work, including but not limited to:

  • Service Updates
  • Rewires
  • Changes to breaker box
  • Installation of hardwired appliances (such as dishwashers, built-in microwaves, etc)
  • New light fixtures
  • New outlets

When do I need an inspection?





HVAC / Furnaces / Mechanical

Information

Repair or replacement of HVAC or Furnace requires a permit. Adding a new HVAC or furnace will require plan review with adherence to international energy codes. Mechanical work that is part of an alteration, shall be included in the alteration permit.

Information

All plumbing repairs and replacement require a permit. Please note that if plumbing work is part of an alteration, it shall be included in the alteration permit.

A window permit is needed for any replacements. Window need to be energy efficient.

"PODS", Moving Storage Containers 

A temporary storage unit (Unit) is defined for purposes of the ordinance (ARTICLE 8.05 TEMPORARY STORAGE UNITS):

Storage or moving container, generally constructed of metal, and including rental units and purchased units. Rental units are generally available in units from 7 to 16 feet long, 8 feet high, and 8 feet wide. Units for ownership or rental may also be shipping containers from cargo ships which may also be carried on semi-tractor trailers, and which may be 40 to 55 feet in length. All moving or storage containers generally meeting the criteria in this article are included in the definition of “unit” in this article. Modifications such as windows, foundations, exterior cladding or other changes do not exempt the unit from the provisions of this article.
